VNote Ensemble - Venezuelan and Jazz Fusion at Mission City Coffee

Hailed for its spirited performances and fascinating fusion of Latin and folk rhythms with adventurous jazz explorations, The VNote Ensemble--formerly The Snake Trio--is a Bay Area world music quartet making the connection between the music of North America and that of Venezuela.

The group consists of: Sam Bevan on acoustic and electric bass; Donna Viscuso on flutes and alto saxophone; Jackeline Rago on cuatro, bandola, percussion, and vocals; and Lali Meija on percussion. The VNote Ensemble defiantly ignores musical boundaries to create a new direction that joins the infectious rhythms of joropo and swing, gaita and soul, and be-bop and calypso among many others. They played for Fiddling Cricket two years ago and were a huge success, with many requests to bring them back.
