This free 24-hr course is designed to educate and empower individuals to coach volunteers, conduct planting demonstrations, coordinate tree plantings, and become familiar with the tree species and services that Our City Forest provides. The course consists of 5 classroom sessions (held on Wednesday nights and one Saturday at 151 W. Mission St.) and 4 field sessions (held on Saturdays at varying locations). Classes meet in the office (151 W. Mission St., #151, San Jose, CA) on 5 Wednesday evenings and 4 Saturdays at various locations in San Jose.
Course topics include:
• Choosing the Right Tree for the Right Place
• Species Identification
• The Science of Trees
• Common Trees of San Jose
• Proper Planting Techniques
• Tree Pruning Techniques
• Organizing a Tree Planting Event
The class is free and open to all. No experience necessary.
