AVS 56th International Symposium - American Vacuum Society

Founded in 1953, AVS is a nonprofit, professional organization composed of 5,000 members worldwide. AVS was originally a group of scientists, technicians, and equipment manufacturers focused on the rapidly emerging field of vacuum science and technology. Over the years AVS has broadened and evolved into an interdisciplinary society covering topics related to both vacuum and emerging technologies in the materials, interfaces, and processing fields. The AVS International Symposium and Exhibition is held each fall and runs from Sunday to Friday, and is attended by 3,000+ scientists, engineers, professors, senior managers, technicians, and students from the U.S. and abroad. More than 1,300 papers and posters are presented in over 120 technical sessions. An extensive Exhibition of equipment, tools, materials, supplies, chemicals, services and consulting, technical literature and new technologies are showcased from Tuesday through Thursday during the heart of the meeting. AVS is a Society unique for its multidisciplinary coverage of science and technology - no place is this more evident than at the International Symposium and Exhibition which attracts international attendees from a variety of industries.
