Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award Ceremony

Women's Initiative for Self-Employment, a Bay Area nonprofit providing entrepreneurship training to low-income women, has named 11 San Francisco businesswomen Woman Entrepreneur of the Year for 2010. They are among 61 winners around the Greater Bay Area. These awards recognize women business owners in the Bay Area for their contributions to their local communities and economies, and who are examples and mentors to aspiring female entrepreneurs.

The 11 San Francisco winners are:

* Jill Litwin, Peas of Mind
* Laura van Galen, Bleu Marketing Solutions

* Lisa Nowell & Kristin Jamieson, recess urban recreation
* Lynn Jurich, SunRun
* Mariam Naficy, Minted.com
* Nancy Charraga, Mexevents.com

In recognizing these businesses, Women's Initiative celebrates the power of small businesses in transforming communities through job creation and economic revitalization. In fact, recent research from Women's Initiative shows that their graduates created more than 2200 jobs in 2009 alone.

The Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards recognize these women entrepreneurs and their businesses for their leadership and positive contributions to their communities.
