This afternoon workshop will discuss the essay as a vehicle for artists in particular (but, more fully, anyone) to explore, unfold, and extend thinking. The essay can be a form both creative and tenacious, able to expand understanding in ways uniquely its own. Participants may be asked to write briefly, and the session will be as much conversation as lecture.
