Description
Explore the culture of samurai lords with an intimate look at this warrior class from feudal Japan. More than 160 works will be on view including armor, swords, guns, formal attire, calligraphy, paintings, teaware, lacquerware, masks, and musical instruments. Most objects are from the collection of one of Japan's most distinguished warrior clans, the distinguished Hosokawa family, powerful military nobles with a 600-year-old lineage who embodied the duality of fierce warrior and refined gentleman.
