The New Year is indisputably our most list-obsessed time of year. If we’re not making lists of gifts to buy or give, we’re making top ten lists of movies, books, and music, not to mention looking inward to compose hopeful lists of self-improvement. A List Slam = A Poetry Slam, but instead of poetry, people read lists. Signed copies of the “To-Do List” (a new book which compiles interesting to-do lists) will be featured, and you are encouraged to bring a list to read of share, especially lists tied to 2007 or 2008.

The lists come from well-known people (novelist Nick Hornby, chef Alice Waters, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto, Stephen Dubner, co-author of Freakanomics) and everyday people alike. They’re from everyone from a Florida schoolteacher who wants to lose 92 pounds to a young Mormon looking for his ideal mate.

The book is full color inside and out. It also includes DIY ideas for your own lists, original survey data on the habits of our growing list-making nation and musings on the roles lists play in our lives.
