Description
Our classes give each singer the opportunity to work on several songs in a master class setting, addressing interpretation of lyrics, stage presence, mic technique, verbal introduction to the song, working with instrumentalists, and “selling” the song in performance. The classes are designed for you to do continuing work on your material and presentation. If you’ve ever wanted to do your own “cabaret” or one-man/woman show, stretch your skills, or just sing for your own pleasure, this might be the time! San Francisco Classes begin on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and continue for an additional 7 sessions (mostly Tuesdays - see below for dates) The classes will be held at Fort Mason, Building C, Room 260 which boasts ample parking (both free street parking in the neighborhood or paid parking at the site - 1st hr free; $1 per hr. after, local transportation (check Muni schedule at www.511.org) and great views of the Bay! CLASS DATES: Tuesdays: 9/22, 9/29/ 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 11/3, 11/1. The last session will be either Monday 11/16 or Wednesday 11/18 (we will decide this at the first session). TIME: 6:30-10:00 pm. Each 3 and 1/2 hour class includes individual instruction for each singer in a master class setting in which all learn by observing each other work with the coaches. There will also be group singing and direct instruction on the history of popular song. A resource packet is provided to all participants. LEVEL: For singers of all levels, from the emerging singer to the intermediate singer to the advanced singer looking to hone his/her craft or learn new skills. FEE: $375 (incl $20 non-refundable registration fee.) Payment plans and credit card payment are available. The final concert, Saturday, November 21, 7:00pm, is being held at the Fairmont Hotel's Cirque Room. Tickets: $10 + $10 drink minimum. The Cirque Room was the first bar to open in San Francisco following prohibition. Before the Venetian Room was opened, the Cirque was the place to go for entertainment in the City. And with our concert, we are bringing live music back to this historic room. ABOUT KITCHENETTE PRODUCTIONS: San Francisco vocalists LUA HADAR and LINDA KOSUT are co-founders of KITCHENETTE PRODUCTIONS. Their longtime collaborator, BARRY LLOYD, known as the Crown Prince of Cabaret, is a master accompanist and vocal entertainer. All three of these jazz/cabaret vocalist-entertainers have established reputations for their individual nationally and internationally acclaimed performances. Kitchenette Productions is known for producing high quality showcases, shows, open mics and singers’ salons, starting with the Song of the Month Club at Martuni’s in 2001. Audiences and performers will also remember Thick Tuesdays, a monthly workshop/open mic event presented for six years at Thick House Theater and Kitchenette Productions’ The New Stars of the Purple Onion, which for two years brought audiences flocking to the legendary North Beach nightspot. Lua and Linda are a mainstay in the San Francisco Bay Area in their efforts to inspire and encourage other singers to grow as performers.
