Description
The Full Moon Concert Series is a new experimental music series curated by Polly Moller of Outsound Presents, in partnership with the Luggage Store Gallery. Each concert will explore the traditional lore of the Full Moon, and in January, the "Cold Moon" will feature the composers and performers of the Los Angeles record label Cold Blue Music.Cold Blue Music began in the early 1980s. Through a series of 10-inch vinyl EPs and 12-inch LPs, the label released music by Daniel Lentz (Point Conception, After Images, etc), Peter Garland (The Matachin Dances and Three Strange Angels), Barney Childs (Clay Music), Chas Smith (Santa Fe and Beatrix), James Tenney, Ingram Marshall, Harold Budd, Michael Byron, Michael Jon Fink, Rick Cox, and others. By the time of its demise a few years later, Cold Blue was recognized by many new-music critics as a label with a unique focus—particularly West Coast minimalism and post-minimalism.
Reemerging after a fifteen-year hiatus, Cold Blue releases five to six new CDs per year. Five of its current artists – Chas Smith, Michael Jon Fink, Rick Cox, Read Miller, and Marty Walker – will make the trip north to San Francisco to share their instrumental compositions in the Luggage Store Gallery.
