Even though you may not be aware of it, an underground art community is pulsing in San Diego, and the tale-tell heart lies in unlikely North Park. On the second Saturday of each month, North Park's Ray Street Galleries are open to the public for a crisp evening of breathing in the art you never about. Ray at Night is a monthly opportunity for local art nuts and laymen alike to view otherwise under-exposed work. Beginning at 6 and wrapping up around 10pm, the event is held at the perfect time for a stroll through the cool night air, bouncing from one scene to another. Tired of photography? No problem--there's some sculpture right across the street. Charcoal's not your thing? Hit up the mixed media next door. Chances are you'll find something you'll be talking about for the next week, or even the perfect piece to hang in the entryway. With 12 galleries taking part and numerous artists showing, there's an endless selection. The event is free. Free parking is available in the area, or in the structure at 30th street for about $3.
