Unsilent Night San Diego

An unconventional group stroll through the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. This is a great event that MO and I took part in a couple of years back and I interviewed the leaders from the Trummerflora Collective on TNJT. While it is a holiday season event, it's more about the group feel of the movement and sound.

From the Trummerflora Collective Calendar page: Unsilent Night is an audience participation work, an outdoor ambient music piece for an INFINITE number of boom box players. It's like a Christmas caroling party except that we don't sing, but rather carry boom boxes, each playing a separate tape or cd which is part of the piece. In effect, we become a city block long stereo system! Performances in New York have been using hundreds of participants. The more people that are involved, the more joyous a sound we can create.
