The San Diego Experimental Music October Meetup

Ok. So I've taken the first step. I've set a first meeting June 20th, Summer Solstice 2008. I've never organized anything but my records, socks and desk but I've done pretty well with those when I've applied myself. I'm sure I'm going to have plenty to do but the success of any group or organization really depends on the members rather than the organizer; if nobody comes it simply doesn't exist and I'm exactly where I was before. I would really like to just meet this first time and see what it is that 20 or so people in sad San Diego mean when they sign up for an Experimental music gathering. Do you just want to share what you've created? Do you want to create something new? Are you just a spectator? What do we want to do? I know I would like to see some recordings come from this. I think it would be great if we could meet, work together and in the end have something to show for it. But I guess we'll see. I hope you come, I'll let everyone know where very soon. If you have any ideas about it I'd love to hear them. Any help is welcome too.. It's a first meeting to I'm sure it'll be like Experimentalists Anonymous, "Hello, I'm Steve and I'm a musical deviant.", but I hope something will come of it all. I'm really not good at pumping it up and getting people excited. I'm not a cheerleader, but I am excited and I really hope that you'll be part of this if you can. Thanks. THERE IS A QUESTION ABOUT A FEE WHEN SCHEDULING THIS MEETING. I'D LIKE THIS FIRST ONE AT LEAST, TO BE FREE. OTHERWISE I FEEL SHITTY ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. I THINK IT WOULD BE EXTREEMLY BAD FORM AND BAD LUCK TO SOIL IT ALL WITH ME ASKING YOU TO LAY YOUR DIRTY DOLLAR DOWN. ABOUT THE FUTURE I CAN'T SAY, BUT IF THERE IS A FEE IT WILL ONLY BE TO COVER THE VENUE OR WHATEVER.
