Event Summary

The Elemental Experience is a unique all-day music festival defined by it's popular artists, relaxing setting, eco-friendliness, and most importantly its purpose ’ to tackle one of our community's toughest social issues each year through collective fund raising endeavors. This year Stay Classy will be partnering with San Diego Youth Services to combat youth homelessness, with the goal of building a new homeless shelter.

The EE has it all - an important social cause, 100% environmentally friendly aspects, national music talent, and a picturesque location on beautiful Mission Bay. The event consists of an awareness trek around Mission Bay, followed by a music festival in the afternoon/evening that will feature music on 2 solar powered stages, picnic areas and beer gardens. The EE is a family event, open to all ages, and will even have a kids area.

Fundraising

The Elemental Experience provides an opportunity to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, recruit thousands of volunteers, and build substantial awareness to support youth homeless in San Diego.

Anyone who purchases a ticket online to the EE will automatically have a customizable fundraising page setup in his or her name on www.stayclassy.org. This page will give everyone attending the event the opportunity to raise money for the cause. Stay Classy encourages everyone who registers to establish a fundraising goal for themselves, customize their fundraising page, and share their page with family & friends. Individual fundraisers will be rewarded for achieving specific fundraising levels with incentives at the event, such as VIP access, t-shirts, food & drink, and much more! 100% of funds raised through individual fundraising will go directly to the charitable cause.

As with any event, success will be directly associated with event attendance, and the fundraising that each individual does to support the cause. While the preliminary estimate is approximately 5,000 participants, that number could be lower or higher, as could the fundraising expectations for those participants. The event budget projects the following donation amounts made directly to the local homeless youth charity organization based upon attendance:

Attendance / Donation to Local Charity

  • 0 - 2,500 / $5,000 - $30,000

  • 2,500 - 5,000 / $30,000 - $120,000

  • 5,000 - 7,500 / $120,000 - $275,000

  • 7,500 - 10,000 / $275,000 - $420,000

  • 10,000 + / $420,000 +

Entertainment

The Elemental Experience will feature both local and national talent, bringing music from many diverse genres. In addition, Stay Classy will also be approaching two bands from local colleges and universities to participate in the event, giving them the opportunity to play alongside national talent.

Stay Classy will be announcing the lineup on the FM 91x Morning Show on February 18th at 9:00 AM.

A Greener Approach

The Elemental Experience will be one of the most environmentally conscious events in San Diego. Last July, 2008 Stay Classy hosted the largest solar-powered concert in San Diego’s history, and we’re ready to break the mold again. In addition to solar-powered stages and generators, Stay Classy will be enforcing stringent restrictions on all vendor materials, minimizing vendor wastes and reducing the amount of plastics used at the event. In addition, Stay Classy will host a large recycling drive at the event aimed at recycling materials for reuse in the homeless shelter.

Lastly, Stay Classy is going to continue an initiative it started in 2008 to enhance Mission Bay Park. Last May, Stay Classy volunteers partnered with Urban Corp of San Diego representatives and Mission Bay Park rangers to plant 15 trees on Ski Beach. Stay Classy will work with the Mission Bay Parks & Recreation Dept to identify additional ways that we can enhance the site of the Elemental Experience, ensuring that the event makes a lasting contribution to our local parks.
