Description
Want to head out to the high peaks for a backcountry skiing or snowshoeing adventure? Join David Cressman of SWS Mountain Guides-outfitter for REI Adventures-to learn the nuts and bolts of winter mountaineering. David will review the gear you'll need for snow travel, and will discuss skills required for safe exploration, including navigation, avalanche search and rescue, proper use of ice ax and crampons, how to stay warm, and skiing/snowshoeing techniques. As David shares tips to help you plan your next mountaineering adventure, he'll show slides of great winter/spring destinations, including Sequoia and Lassen National Parks, the Eastern Sierra and Mount Whitney.
