Description

Focused training for personnel responsible for managing underground and aboveground storage tanks in various applications including vehicle fueling, heating oil, emergency generators and varied industrial applications, both petroleum and chemical. The Storage Tanks course covers the full range of storage tank management including the very important, recently enacted, Energy Policy Act of 2005.
A Look At The Laws and Regulations

An in-depth look at the Federal requirements for underground and aboveground storage tanks. You will receive a complete review of all existing regulations, as well as an analysis of the current changes anticipated based on the Energy Bill 2005. See first hand how these existing and future rules can impact your facilities.

Breakdown of How to Comply

A detailed, section-by-section breakdown of each area of compliance, including:

  • Inventory Reconciliation â€" techniques that will help you develop the right program for your storage tanks
  • Typical Installations â€" take a look at how it is supposed be done; typical underground and aboveground designs, applications, and “off-the-shelf ideas”
  • Monitoring and Leak Detection â€" the key to leak prevention and detection; how you can know that you have a problem before it shuts you down, or worse causes contamination
  • Closure and Investigation â€" easy to follow steps in the tank closure process; ways to set the standard before you start and what to do when there has been a release, the first steps in a controlled investigation.
  • Inspection and Maintenance â€" the key to proper operations is inspection and maintenance; see the techniques to be used; take a look at some alternative checklists that can be used and see the ones that the regulators and certifying inspectors use.
  • SPCC Planning â€" one of the most regulated and enforced areas of compliance today; see what the regulations are and how to apply them to your operations.
  • Special Considerations for Hazardous Substances and Wastes â€" not everyone has them, but those that do, wish they knew how to make sure that they don’t leak; see what the regulations are and how to comply with them.
  • Used Oil Management - everyone has used oil, whether it is considered a hazardous waste or a petroleum product depends on how you manage it. See how the Federal regulations have made it easier to store and manage your used oil.

News Release:

EPA Releases Draft Underground Storage Tanks Grant Guidelines

EPA announced on Jan. 24 the release of a draft grant guidelines for states to report on the compliance of government underground storage tanks under the Energy Policy Act of 2005. States will have to report on the compliance status of underground storage tanks owned or operated by federal, state, and local governments. When final, EPA will incorporate the guidelines into grant agreements between EPA and states. Grants provide resources to help states implement the underground storage tank program. EPA will accept public comments on the draft guidelines until Feb.
