At last Canyon Lake Gorge--An awesome opportunity!

This a very unique opportunity to experience. Canyon Lake Gorge is a relatively new feature in the Hill Country as it was uncovered during the flood of 2002. It is only accessible by private tour because it is a protected natural area. It is so unique that Exxon Mobile, Texas A&M, and others are using it for research. On the tour you will see dinosaur footprints and learn about the inaccuracy of Jurassic Park. There is a wide array of fossils. You will see natural springs, fault lines, recharge zones, vegetation, etc. One of the recharge effects is a huge basin that fills with water during a rain, and the water is gone the next day. The tour guides are very knowledgeable, and you will learn a lot. One thing I found fascinating was a demonstration of the aquifer on a small scale. It makes you appreciate God's design, how we get our water, and how fragile the system really is. The tour costs $10, and there will be a liability waiver. Don't worry it is not a dangerous or strenuous hike; it's just a formality. For the tour to take place I need a MINIMUM of 10 definite yes RSVPs and a Maximum of 23. You can pay with cash on the day of or by check payable to: Gorge Preservation Society. We will meet at the Starbucks on Hwy 281 N at Loop 1604 at 11:30 a.m. for those who want to carpool. Less cars is better because we have to park where the hike ends and carpool back up to the top of the Gorge.
