STRENUOUS HIKE Come hike the trails of Toro Park for a great workout/conditioning hike. Not recommended for anyone new to hiking nor uncomfortable with hiking this distance with the elevation change. This will be a strenuous hike to Simas Peak, the highest point in the park with great views of the Monterey Bay and Salinas Valley. Distance: 11 miles Elevation Change: 3,000 feet Difficulty: Strenuous Hiking Time: 5 hours Will make a lunch stop somewhere along our trek. Dogs are welcome in the Park and rain will cancel event. Toro Park is on the south side of State Hwy 68 (Monterey-Salinas Hwy) utilizing the Portola Drive exit and following the signs. The Park is 13 miles east of downtown Monterey and 6 miles west of downtown Salinas. Where do we meet? As you come through park entrance, just past the entrance kiosk, turn left into a parking area near a restroom. I will be there in a green Toyota Tacoma pickup. There is a nominal fee to enter the park by vehicle or you may elect to park in a large dirt area just outside and to the left of the entrance gate and walk into the park. Questions? My cell is 831 710-0930
