TENNIS SHOES 4 AFRICA 5K & 1 MILE FUN RUN

     
 



 
Tennis Shoes 4 Africa was formed by Coach Modise and his student athletes to help provide shoes to African children. Many African children dream of playing tennis and other sports but cannot afford the necessary equipment, including shoes.  Tennis shoes 4 Africa brings these children one step closer to thier dream fo participating in sports.
Through athletics scholarships, these children have the opportunity to receive a college education. Coach was able to earn a Bachelors degree in Marketing from University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Masters degree in Human Performance from the University of New Orleans. Coach Modise hopes that through Tennis Shoes 4 Africa other children can have the same opportunity he has had.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to supporting the effors of TS4A.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
5K Race will start at 8:00 a.m.
1 Mile Fun Run will start at 8:10 a.m.
RACE CAP:
Total race entries will be limited to 200 participants to ensure each runner has an enjoyable experience, so register early. Plus, you can take advantage of the lower fees. Please visit www.tennisshoes4africa.org.
RACE COURSE
The race will be ran at a certified USATF Certified Course.
RULES:
A complete list of rules is available on the race website, and must be reviewed prior to the start of the race. Below are some highlights:

No dogs, skates, bikes or baby joggers are allowed on the race course.
Runners must remain on the roads at all times.
Race Directors, the Race Committee, and NC Wesleyan reserve the right to reject an application or remove any participant from the course at their discretion.
Transfer of race numbers is strictly prohibited. No one is allowd on the course without a race number.
To ensure a safe race, runners must avoid running side-by-side and blocking path

SIGNING UP:
Registration can be done on this online, through mail and at the day of the event.

Any registration done after 02/09 are not guaranteed preferred shirt size.
 
PACKET PICKUP:
Race packets can be picked up at Everett Gymnasium on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College on 2/20/2009 from 12:00pm. Packets will also be available on  the morning of the race.

Top Masters Male and Female Finishers
Top 3 Male and Females in each Age Group Category

RACE DIRECTORS:
Tennis Shoes 4 Africa is administered by NC Wesleyan Collge as a non-profit organization founded in 2008, and directs the TS4A 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. Our goal is to make a diffence in the lives of children and give them a chance that we had. We do believe that by reaching out we can help to bring hope to a child's future, one pair of shoes at a time.
WAIVER:
Waiver: By participating in the TS4A 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run on 02/21/2008 in Rocky Mount, NC. I agree , warrant and covenant as follows: I know that participating in a run or walk is potentially hazardous activity. I should not participate in the event unless I am medically able and properly trained. I assume all risks associated with participating including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other runners, the effects of weather, and the conditions of the road and path. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Tennis Shoes 4 Africa, NC Wesleyan Cross Country and Tennis, volunteers, all race sponsors, and anyone involved with this event, from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in the waiver.
