      Reading Research to Classroom Practice

      The purpose of the course is to develop the instructional competencies of school personnel to effectively teach students with persistent reading problems as well as to assist teachers to effectively implement these practices within the context of current comprehensive reading programs within their schools. Although the focus of this course is on K-12 students who have shown persistent problems learning to read, the information is also appropriate for individuals interested in developing early intervention programs. This is a thirty-hour course (5 days) that will require participants to complete readings and activities designed to increase knowledge and strengthen skills in teaching students who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling. Participants receive 4.0 CEUs for successfully completing all course requirements and attending all 5 days.  Non-district participants: Please plan to bring your own training materials.
