Description
Join us as Virginia Commonwealth University commemorates the centennial anniversary of the founding of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia, which took place Nov. 20, 1909, at 919 W. Franklin St. -- now VCU's Crenshaw House. The ESL became the League of Women Voters of Virginia in 1920, one year after women won the right to vote. Learn more at http://www.library.vcu.edu/jbc/speccoll/exhibit/crenshaw.html.

Suffrage march and official renaming of Crenshaw House will take place on Friday, November 20, 2009. Participants will gather at noon in front of Ginter House, 901 W. Franklin Street, and march to Crenshaw House, 919 W. Franklin Street.

Free and open to the public. Parking is available for a fee in the West Main Street, West Cary Street and West Broad Street parking decks.
If special accommodations are needed, please call the VCU Libraries Development Office at (804) 827-1165 or (804) 827-1163.

Sponsored by the VCU College of Humanities and Sciences, VCU Libraries and the League of Women Voters of Virginia.
