Alexandria Scottish Walk Parade -- March with your Cavs and our Group!

During the annual Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend (December 5-6) hundreds of Scottish clansmen parade with their bagpipes through Old Town Alexandria. The family-friendly holiday event is a traditional favorite of the Alexandria community, including a tour of historic homes, a childrenÂÂ's tea party, a Celtic Concert and a Christmas Marketplace and Café. The Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend is one of the largest fundraising activities for the Campagna Center, a non-profit organization that serves children and families in need in Alexandria, Virginia. Weekend activities inclide the popular Scottish Christmas Walk Parade which takes place on Saturday morning, December 5th. Scottish clansmen march through Old Town Alexandria with their bagpipes in a traditional holiday parade. Also participating are pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers, re-enactment groups, dog groups, dignitaries and, of course, Santa Claus. For the SECOND YEAR, the DC Area Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Group will have its OWN official spot in the parade! Last year we had a blast with over 70 dogs participating and SO MUCH FUN! We will once again, give those Scottie dog groups a run for their money! Stay tuned for more details, but I am hoping we can again meet up on the morning of Saturday the 5th at the pet-friendly Hotel Monaco -- quite near the parade route start and finish -- for coffee and pastries.
