A Heavenly Afternoon/Evening of Sun, Moon, Sky and Stars

WeÂÂ'll start our afternoon with a late lunch at the critically acclaimed Sunflower Restaurant in Vienna, VA. After a leisurely lunch, weÂÂ'll carpool out to Sky Meadows State Park, for their November Star Party. The party begins with a presentation by a Jet Propulsion Laboratory Solar System Ambassador. After dusk, weÂÂ'll get a night sky orientation from a Smithsonian astronomer. WeÂÂ'll then get the opportunity to view various astronomical objects through huge telescopes provided by local amateur astronomers. This November program is usually the best of the year, as cool temps and low humidity provide optimal viewing conditions. WeÂÂ'll have warm thermoses of Golden Moon Tea along with fruit, cheese and crackers to snack on. Meet at 2:15 p.m. at Vienna Metro, North Side. We will carpool to the site, so weÂÂ'll need volunteer drivers. Passengers, please give your driver a few dollars to cover the cost of gasoline. Cost of $28 member / $38non-member.
