Let's snowshoe the 10 miles roundtrip to the summit of Mt Rose! This is a difficult rated snowshoe hike because of the elevation (10,776 feet at summit!), 2000 feet elevation gained and 10 mile distance. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Chain restrictions may cause hike to be revised to Thomas Creek area. Bring snowshoes, water resistant boots, water, snacks/lunch and dress in layers. Let's snowshoe the 10 miles roundtrip to the summit of Mt Rose! This is a difficult rated snowshoe hike because of the elevation (10,776 feet at summit!), 2000 feet elevation gained and 10 mile distance. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Chain restrictions may cause hike to be revised to Thomas Creek area. Bring snowshoes, water resistant boots, water, snacks/lunch and dress in layers. Snowshoes are available for rent at REI and other locations in Reno. Snowshoes are available for sale at nearly every sporting goods stores in town as well as Costco. Meet in the Raley's parking lot near McDonalds on Mt Rose Hwy and Wedge Pkwy (see map link) for prompt 9AM departure.
