Description
Helen Thayer, named "One of the Great Explorers of the 20th Century" by National Geographic and National Public Radio, has walked and skied for 27 days in the Arctic, pulling a 160-pound sled for 364 miles in order to become the first woman - and, at age 50, the oldest person - to travel on foot and under-supplied, to the magnetic North Pole. During her trek, Thayer faced and survived seven face-to-face encounters with polar bears thanks to her own quick wits and the keen senses of her dog, Charlie. During her presentation, sponsored by CORDURA fabric, Helen will bring to life the pages of her best selling book, Polar Dream, as she shares photographs and fascinating new information about her solo expedition to the magnetic north pole.
