Rhode Island Women's Ride | Providence, Rhode Island ...

On Saturday, May 19, 2012 the first Rhode Island Womens Ride will celebrate much of the beautiful bicycling that the state has to offer. It will also celebrate Rhode Island's pivotal, historic role in the development of the concept of womens equality.

Before each group begins, National Park Ranger and actor, John McNiff will present a dramatic interpretation of the story of Jane Verin and Roger Williams argument for a womans right to liberty of conscience.

Cyclists have three routes from which to choose: a challenging, 100km loop through the rolling hills and pine forest of Rhode Islands northwest quadrant, a fairly flat 50km loop through farmland to the bay to our southeast and a bicycled tour of Providence architecture of 5-7km.

Following the ride, lunch will be served from a selection of local gourmet food trucks.

The ride raises funds for the Providence-based US Open Cycling Foundation - whose mission is to help people achieve healthy lives through cycling for fitness, fun and transportation - and the Women's Fund of Rhode Island - who are working to eliminate gender inequality in Rhode Island through systemic change.

We are expecting 200 - 300 female riders and look forward to your being one of them!
