Event details: RIC Mainstage Theatre to perform Pulitzer-Prize drama â...
Description
âRabbit Hole,â a powerful and moving drama about a family trying to find answers and cope with life after a tragic incident, will be performed by RICâs Mainstage Theatre in the Nazarian Centerâs Helen Forman Theatre from Nov. 18-21 at 8 p.m., and Nov. 21-22 at 2 p.m.
The play, which received the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for drama, was written by David Lindsay-Abaire and will be directed at RIC by Jamie Taylor, chair of the collegeâs Music, Theatre, and Dance Department.
Taylor describes âRabbit Holeâ as âone of the most honest and sincere plays I have ever read. I knew that I had to direct this beautiful work after my initial reading.â
â âRabbit Holeâ presents a tragedy and its consequences with utter candor, and without sentimentality,â according to USA Today. âThe dialogue is most impressive for capturing the awkwardness and pain of thinking people faced with an unthinkable situation â" and eventually, their capacity for survival, and even hope.â
Lindsay-Abaire has written the screenplay for the film version of "Rabbit Hole,â scheduled for release in 2010. He also wrote the plays âShrek the Musicalâ (book and lyrics), âKimberly Akimbo,â âWonder of the World,â and âA Devil Inside,â among others, and is working on the screenplay for âSpider-Man 4.â
General admission is $15. For more information, call Jamie Taylor at (401) 456-8639. Visit www.ric.edu/pfa to learn about all the RIC performing and fine arts events.
