A New Series: The Scholls Sunday Saunters Return! at Postal code 97223, US

It's my birthday, and I'm going to celebrate by bringing back the Scholls Sunday Saunter Series. These are two-part social rides that provide something for everybody, from complete newbie to advanced riders. Beginner/Social Loop Each Sunday we will meet by the fire at Metro Perc to socialize and prepare for the rides. The first loop is strictly and completely social, at the most social of paces. If you cant hold a conversation while riding, we're going too fast. It's a great way for new riders to meet more experienced riders who can provide valuable advice, encouragement and friendship. The rides will explore local parks, pathways, and lightly traveled back roads in the Scholls/SW Beaverton/Tigard area. Hills will be avoided if at all possible, but in this area there will have to be some moderate hills if we are to ride any distance from the start point. The rides will be of 12-15 miles in length, with regroups at every turn. No rider left behind! If your bike is in serviceable working order, you can do this ride. If you have a minor mechanical problem such as a sticking brake or minor shifting problem, there's usually somebody (me) at the start point with a repair kit that can fix minor problems. Just show up early and let me know! Intermediate/Advanced Continuation Loop After looping back to the start, more advanced riders can head out with Paul to explore the lovely Scholls area countryside. We tend to do destination loops, which in the past have included Newberg, Bald Peak, Laurel, Hagg Lake, Kansas City and even Skyline. We'll start the season with continuation rides of 25-40 miles in duration. By late in the season we've been know to do 70-mile continuations (yes, that's 85-mile days!). If you're not up to the day's distance, I always prepare cue sheets and you can simply do an out-and-back ride. There's almost always someone willing to accompany a rider back if they don't want to do the distance and are uncomfortable or unprepared to ride alone. The Scholls Saunter Series is sponsored by our host, Metro Perc! Ask for a cyclist's $2 coffee and breakfast cookie special. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Official Event Information: Length: Beginner/Social loop of 12-15 miles, Continuation Intermediate/Advanced loop of 25-70 miles.
