"I feel the need... for speed." Release your inner Maverick and work to improve both your speed and your group riding technique. If you are comfortable maintaining about 16 mph but would like to boost your level of performance, this ride is designed to help. We will start at 15-16, then up the tempo to 18-19 mph for half mile or so intervals. We will also work on paceline methods, taking turns at the front and learning to get the full benefit of drafting. If there's a reasonable demand for this event, it will become a regular Sunday training series. Becoming a stronger, faster rider isn't just good exercise; going fast is fun! The location, Sauvie Island, is a very safe, low-traffic venue for this type of training, especially on Sunday mornings. Distance: two laps around the island, about 25 miles. After the first lap we'll take a short break at the market. I will be riding from 29th and Vaughn in the NW District (departing at 8:15) if anyone wants to join me. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Official Event Information: Distance: 25 miles.
