MORE SAFE PLACES:SUPPORTING CHILDREN EXPOSED TO BATTERERS
How can you know if a child is living in a home with domestic violence? How can you help a battered womans children? In this interactive session well discuss the effects on children of life with a battering parent, and ways you can make a positive difference.
AUDIENCE
Parent educators, case managers, health and mental health providers, child care providers, home visitors, child development specialists, family advocates, direct service staff, supervisors, and others working with young children and families.
ABOUT THE TRAINER
Linda Arata is an Early Childhood Educator and has worked with at-risk families for over 16 years. She has served as Childrens Services Coordinator for Volunteers of Americas domestic violence intervention program, Home Free, since 1999, working with families in shelter and playing a lead role in developing outreach services for children. She is co-creator of Safe Spaces: A Support Group Curriculum for Children Exposed to Domestic Violence. In 2004, Linda was recognized by Multnomah Countys Public Safety and Family Violence Coordinating Councils for her work with children exposed to batterers. She is a sought-after trainer and speaker on the effects of domestic violence on children.
