Portland, Oregon, will host the inaugural PDX AAFF November 13-14-15, 2009. Produced by Astoria Productions and hosted by McMenamins, the festival will provide a cultural platform to view some of the outstanding works in African American film, both national and international. The Festival is also committed to telling the story of those filmmakers and actors who have laid the foundation that we proudly stand on today.
This event will start with an overview of African American films of the '20's through the '80's, with the goal to provide an opportunity for educational awareness of the contributions of African Americans to film as an art form. The long-range plan of the PDX AAFF is to open up the Festival by 2010 to contemporary independent filmmakers.
Astoria Productions, The PDX AAFF and McMenamins are working closely with the culturally rich Portland community to combine the hospitality of its citizenry with an exciting array of films that is sure to delight film lovers!
