“Book Arts 101: Love It” Workshop at FAU’s Jaffe Center at Pompano Beach Amphitheatre and Grounds

The Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center at Florida Atlantic University Libraries is offering two book arts workshops with John Cutrone on Tuesday, February 8, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, February 12, from 2 to 5:30 p.m.at the Florida Atlantic University Wimberly Library, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. The workshop will be led by book artist John Cutrone, the Jaffe center’s director. All levels are invited and print experience is not necessary.
The workshops will include a 25-minute screening of a DVD on the center’s collection of artists' books, a viewing of the books and Valentine stories. Participants will also use the center’s letterpress studio and historic wood type collection to print paper from type set by hand. They will make a book, bind it by hand and use the wood type sheets as book covers.
Tuition is by open donation to the center’s education fund.
Cutrone graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master of Fine Arts, and is a partner in Lake Worth's Convivio Bookworks, a book arts studio that specializes in limited edition letterpress printed books and broadsides.
