The CONSOL Energy Center has replaced the Mellon Arena, which originally opened its doors as the Civic Center in September of 1961 with a hit inaugural performance by the world-renowned Ice Capades. Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, The CONSOL is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold-certified arena in the NHL and AFL, and is home to over ten professional sports teams, including the AFL’s Pittsburgh Gladiators, the CBA’s Pittsburgh Xplosion and the AHL’s Pittsburgh Hornets.
