Michael David
Michael David is a longtime southwest Floridian. He has an addictive solo act best termed ambient guitar - meaning you can easily talk over the music, but it sets a nice mood for any room. Without the use of pre-recorded tracks, Michael reinterprets classic hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today - everything from jazz ballads to tv theme songs, Stephen Stills to Coldplay. The fun is in identifying the song once it starts; his unique style will trigger memories and smiles. Mike calls his repetoire "Forgotten Favorites." Tarpon Lodge
Directly on Pine Island Sound, with killer views of sunset, Tarpon Lodge is an historic fishing lodge which has been updated to include a great restaurant and modern accommodations. Come by boat or car, and enjoy the best musicians in the area, playing several nights a week. Musicians set up in the cozy bar area (note to scotch drinkers: lots of great single malts!) and there's also a large screened patio which patrons enjoy on breezy afternoons. Host Rob Wells Jr. has the hospitality gene and couldn't be any friendlier (his dad owns Cabbage Key). Island dress code is casual, of course. This is just a great place to hang out, day or night, but do make a point of catching some live music at Tarpon Lodge. They've made a real commitment to hiring top-notch musicians and deserve support for doing so.Links
