Description
Join Black Rock Sanctuary for a morning outing to explore the meadows and wetlands of this unique site along the Atlantic Flyway. Come out and see fall leaves and the fall bird migration. This walk expects migrating raptors, the arrival of the winter sparrows, as well as the beginning of the waterfowl season. Learn about fine-feathered friends that inhabit the wetland and meadow areas and those who just stop-by for a visit. Instructor: Vincent Smith, Naturalist/Valley Forge Audubon. Black Rock Sanctuary, meet in parking lot. Black Rock Sanctuary is located on Route 113 between Riverwalk Drive and Winding River Boulevard at 953 Black Rock Road, which is about 1 ½ miles north of Phoenixville. Black Rock Sanctuary
Located about 1 mile north of Phoenixville on Route 113. Black Rock is located between Phoenixville and the Pennsylvania Fish'Boat Commission boat ramp. One of 16 de silting basins found along the Schuylkill River, consisting of wetlands, woodlands and meadows. Dedicated to wildlife habitat and public use. Opportunities to discover the history, geology, wildlife, plant life and habitats of the basin. Interpretive trail contains fun, educational stations.
