PHOENIX DOCTORS ORGANIZE TO BENEFIT THE HOMELESS

Amanda Modesta-Keyhani M.D. is a local business owner and a female doctor hosting her first annual donation drive titled "Project Independence" to benefit the Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS). The drive is focusing on getting physician offices and medical facilities around the valley involved in collecting hygienic supplies. Running from May 1, 2012 to July 31, 2012, many facilities and offices are already reporting positive participation.

Dr. Modesta-Keyhani started Project Independence as a way to assist the local homeless community with help from CASS. CASS provides help to many in the Phoenix area from shelters to housing, and is always looking for help to get the homeless back on their feet. Hygienic items, like bathroom items and personal care items, are a very important to succeed in day to day life and their health. Donations boxes are available for medical offices and those interested in participating with a list of items accepted, and can be dropped off and picked up for free.

CASS is Arizona's largest shelter and support center for an average of 5,000 men, women, and children every year with around 1,000 staying in shelters each night. Project Independence focuses on helping out the local community while bringing businesses and local doctors together for a cause.

An open house and volunteer recognition reception will be held on Tuesday July 31st 2012 at 202 E. Earll Drive, Suite 150, Phoenix AZ 85012. This event which is held from 5 pm to 8 pm is free and is open to the public to deliver donations of hygienic supplies.
