Allan Houser, Chiricahua Apache (1914-1994), is considered one of the best-known and celebrated American Indian artists of the 20th century. Housers work has been widely recognized throughout the world. Over the course of his artistic career, Houser never failed to create innovative new works of art. For the first time ever, visitors can see the breadth of Housers work at two of the Valleys most prestigious destinations: the Desert Botanical Garden and the Heard Museum. The collaborative exhibition Allan Houser: Tradition to Abstraction will feature 18 large sculptures from the Houser Foundation on the Desert Botanical Gardens grounds and an array of paintings, drawings and smaller sculptures by this talented and honored artist at the Heard Museum. The exhibition continues through Aug. 22, 2010.
