Description
Special effects master Ray Harryhausen is in top form with his stop motion animation in this epic sci-fi classic. On their return from the first space mission to Venus, a crew of U.S. astronauts crash land into the sea off the coast of Italy. The sole survivor warns that a canister containing a specimen of Venus life was on board and is missing. The specimen eventually grows into a giant tailed creature that runs amok in Italy. The final confrontation in the Colosseum in Rome is somewhat historic because Italian authorities no longer allow filming in the historic stucture.
