The Trocadero Theatre Philadelphia first opened its doors to the public in 1870, when it was known as the Arch Street Opera House. In its early years, the Trocadero Theatre Philadelphia was used for musical comedies, traveling minstrel shows, vaudeville acts and burlesque performances. It wasn't until the 1980s that the Trocadero Theatre Philadelphia was remodeled and eventually became the dance club, concert hall and live music venue that it is today. The Trocadero Theatre Philadelphia's long and unique history has scored it a spot on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
Today, in addition to musical showcases and festivals, the Trocadero schedule features a variety of concerts, movies and special events.
