New Deck Tavern (Philadelphia)

The New Deck Tavern has been nestled on historical Sansom Street in University City, Philadelphia since 1986. Our restaurant and tavern is located in three renovated second empire style row houses built in the late 1800's. The block was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

With a liquor license dating back to 1933, the year Prohibition came to an end, The Deck, which it is often referred to as, was originally located on the 3400 Block of Walnut Street. After it's ten year break, the Deck was reopened at it's current location and has been pleasing customers ever since.

The kitchen at the New Deck serves up generous portions everyday from 11am till 1am. Known for our great burgers, cheese steaks, delicious fresh salads & tasty sandwiches, our menu is promised to please all!

The New Deck offers a vast array of draft beers from around the world and one of the largest single malt scotch collections in Philadelphia. Our European draft beer system imported from County Cork, Ireland, gives us reason to boast that we pour the Best Pint in the City!

The New Deck is located in the heart of University City. Just steps to the University of Pennsylvania's Law School, Drexel University, U of P's Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, Franklin Field, The Palestra and both Children's Hospital of Philadelphia & HUP.

Join us for our Quizo pub trivia game, the first in the city of Philadelphia started in 1993. We also have Karaoke & Live Acoustic Music sessions throughout the week. Come in to watch your favorite team play on one of our Seven High Definition plasma televisions, we also show all European Soccer games on the Setanta Pub Channel.
