Founded in 1824 and significantly augmented in 2002 by the Balch Institute for ethnic Studies, the Society is a collector and steward of the documentary record and an historical educator and publisher. The Society s collections inform its interpretive and educational programs, and these engage wide publics, adding depth and dimension to understandings of our diverse pasts and each other.
