Event details: Service Learning: A Strategy for Keeping Youth In School
Description
-Explains the New Standards for Quality Service Learning Practice,
-Explores the Reasons Why Youth Drop Out of School,
-Identifies How Service Learning Responds to Issues that Contribute to Youth Dropping Out, and
-Allows for Investigation of Specific Service Learning Models in the Areas of Literacy, Hunger/Homelessness, Safety & Preparedness, and Intergenerational Programs
Participants (including youth, teachers, administrators, community based staff, and parents) will gain valuable information and strategies that can be shared with others in their school and community!
Training Grants are available for schools that need assistance with funding and are seriously interested in initiating a service learning project in the Spring Semester of 2009!
