Through the years of running this group, I have come to learn that many people don't really understand what Atheism really means, and what those who describe themselves as such really believe. At this meeting we will clarify this definition. atheism is a word that essential says what the belief is not (without god) rather than what the belief is actually about. This sets up confusion between those who think atheism are those who 'believe there is no God', when in fact atheists typical have 'no belief in a god'. This subtle difference in wording does have a huge consequence on beliefs. After clarify what it means to be atheist, we will consider if there is a better term to use to describe those beliefs and discuss ways in which atheist may be more accepted in society.
