    Bio
Your Divine Tragedy is a progressive hard rock band originally from Missoula Montana and now Seattle, WA, who formed in the fall of 2003, and writes all original songs. Their influences include Tool, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold and many more. The band is composed of four primary members: Todd Archambeault, Pat “The Ripper”, Jeff “THE DOOM”, and ATK. Your Divine Tragedy has played countless numbers of shows since the fall of 2003, ranging from The Otherside in their home town of Missoula, MT to the Hard Rock Caf in Salt Lake City, UT. At the 2004 Spring Battle of the Bands at The Otherside in Missoula Montana, Andy Smetanka from the Independent wrote: . . . [The band] takes the stage to a chorus of whoops and whistles that never lets up, clearly audible even when the two-guitar attack reaches a deafening crescendo. They must rate pretty highly in the crowd response category. Stage presence, too: The singer/guitarists manhandling of his instrument causes a number of people within earshot of me to comment on it between songs. In May of 2005, YDT released their first full length CD titled This Island Caught Fire The Missoula Independent and other radio and newspaper personalities gave the CD tremendous reviews. When the band takes the stage, they pull the crowd in with their emotional and power charged showmanship. Spectators may even have the chance to see Todd blow fire, Pat play guitar behind his head, or ATK doing stick spins and tosses. Not to say that YDT is all show and no talent, but they believe in giving their crowd something to remember them by. Saturating the Missoula, MT area for their first three years, has given them a decent following of devoted fans that attend almost every show. As stated before, Your Divine Tragedy consists of four primary members whose styles and personalities differ, but meld together to form a positively motivated musical machine. On lead vocals/rhythm guitar stands a punk rock, metal-core influenced Todd. Armed with cryptic lyrics that take the term lyricist to new levels, Todd looks deep into himself to write about real life, the world around him and the emotions that make us all human while daring to avoid writing about the trite and over spoken. ATK rides atop his throne behind his drum kit to power up the engine behind Your Divine Tragedy’s music. Acting as the rhythmic driving force of Your Divine Tragedy, ATK strives to take his instrument to a place that has rarely been visited before. He demonstrates this by playing polyrhythmic beats, changing up accent points, or using the drums not as a rhythmic device, but also as a way to accent the melody. Heavy metal, progressive rock, jazz and classical music are a few examples of what inspires YDT guitarist Patrick, who composes lead and rhythm guitar lines. A dedicated student of music, Pat enjoys incorporating musical theory into as many facets of Your Divine Tragedy’s songs as possible. Patrick has learned how to be his own voice amongst a crowd of repeating and repeated guitarists. It has been said that a bassist is not noticed while he’s playing, but turn him down and the whole mix sounds rotten. If this is the stereotype, then Jeff “THE DOOM” forgot the rule book when it came to writing bass lines. The bass lines in Your Divine Tragedy's songs often act as a second rhythm guitar that plays off of the melody to complete the intense rock sound. With music being one of the most healing art forms, Your Divine Tragedy strives to reach each and every audience member in one-way or another. They make every effort to inspire, move, and enthuse the crowd at all of their live performances. Your Divine Tragedy is highly devoted to music with every member striving to become the best musician possible. It is Your Divine Tragedy's priority to show the world that music can still rock even when not bound to the 4/4 measure or stable key signatures.
