Acclaimed Jazz Guitarist and Award-Winning Composer, Sten Hostfalt has for the past 15 years been described as Highly Exceptional and Virtuosic by Legendary Icons and pioneers Of American Music, mentors Jimmy Giuffre and Joe Maneri respectively. Enthusiastically featured in JAZZ TIMES, NEW YORK TIMES and ALL MUSIC GUIDE for work as a sideman alongside some of the world's most innovative musicians.

Currently appearing in shared events with such diverse acts as M O B Y, Keith Murray (DEF SQUAD) and TIM BERNE. As a New York City based, Internationally active bandleader recognized as Inimitable, Impressive by PM NYC / PAPER MAGAZINE and TIME OUT NY. First introduced on the mid-90's NYC Jazz scene as an original member of and featured soloist with Guillermo Klein's Pioneering Ensemble. Weekly at Small's Jazz Club during the inception of the influential venue. Through studies with Jimmy Giuffre, Joe Maneri and Paul Bley. Composition Master Classes with Toru Takemitsu and Gyorgi Ligeti. Performances with Peter Erskine, Clare Fischer and Gary Burton. And as an apprentice in Traditional Large Jazz Orchestras led by Herb Pomeroy, Phil Wilson and George Russell

Born in 1962 in Sweden, initially largely self taught and after local media features as a teen, labeled a 'Guitar Phenom'. Transplanted to the U.S.A. in 1989 through scholarships from two of the world's most Prestigious Schools for Modern Music, New England Conservatory and Berklee College Of Music.From which he received a Master Of Music Degree in Composition, Graduate Diploma in Instrument Performance and a Bachelor of Music Degree with honors.

Sten Hostfalt has toured South America, U. S. A. and Europe. And with a history of independent releases since the 1981 debute as a co-leader, featured soloist and composer. On his own record label(s), to much critical acclaim, Released five ( 5 ) CD's as a leader. And received numerous Artist Awards. Including one from ASCAP for the landmark 2002 Solo Concert CD release 29 Pieces For The Microtonal Guitar Live, Knitting Factory New York

Also professionally active as a music educator since 1984. A faculty member of The Royal College Of Music in Stockholm, KMH 2001-05. And an invited clinican at alma maters New England Conservatory and Berklee College Of Music. He currently conducts and teaches out of his own Midtown, Manhattan based creative workshop NYC Guitar Studio. That since it's 2006 inception, has been instrumental in getting numerous students admitted to prestigious school programs, as well as to join professionally touring acts or shows.
