I don't know who actually reads this, but given it's a public resource, I thought I'd subscribe and say a few words. Dear Max Bemis, You're a visionary. It's true. Say Anything isn't the best band because they have the best song, or because their lyrics are so inexorably brilliant. They're the best because they consistently and unapologetically put out music that they love. There's no one who sings with such genuity and conviction. It's so obvious that Max writes selfishly, and I love it. It's obvious that the lyrics arise from invocation of an experience of Max's or his friends. And talk about technical implimentation. Who puts out more songs than Say Anything? Who can match their content volume? And the innovation, for fuck's sake. How he can integrate the crude and eloquence in a way that is natural and sincere. God damn. You gotta love it.
