Never before had country music and stand-up comedy been fused together until Rodney Carrington came onto the scene. While he may not have released any any platinum albums, his tour dates have become a popular event among country music audiences and his singles have placed high on the country and comedy charts. While he hasn't released an album since the 2009 smash hit, El Niño Loco, Rodney Carrington is bringing his unique brand up country comedy on the road to tour dates in 2011.
Texas born and bred, Carrington began his career performing stand-up locally around Longview. He gained exposure as a frequent guest on The Bob and Tom Show and eventually released his debut album, Hangin' with Rodney, in 1998. The album featured a mix of stand-up tracks and country music tracks which became a huge hit with audiences on subsequent tour dates. Carrington's subsequent album releases would fair even better by breaking into the top 20 of the Country charts. King of the Mountains and his most recent album, 2009's El Niño Loco, have both reached #2 on the comedy charts and given the artist credibility in both genres. 2008 was a busy year for Carrington, as he co-wrote and co-starred with friend Toby Keith in the hit comedy, Beer for My Horses. He also received a CMT Music Video Award in 2008 for his appliance in the music video for Trace Adkins' "I Got My Game On."
