More info About Ray Lamontagne
Bio
The New Hampshire native quit his day job at a shoe factory after being inspired by a Stephen Stills album. In 1999, he recorded a demo and played local venues to get his name out there while working as a tutor. Lamontagne was eventually signed to RCA Records, and recorded his debut in Los Angeles over a two week period. The album, Trouble, yielded a single of the same name and found success in the United Kingdom. The album stalled on the Billboard 200, peaking at #189, but has since sold over half a million copies worldwide. While the song was not a hit single, it gained recognition after being licensed out to commercials and to TV series such as "Rescue Me" and "Alias".
Lamontagne hit the studio in 2006 to record his sophomore effort, Till the Sun Turns Black, which debuted at #28 on the Billboard 200. This album also heavily licensed out his work, again being featured on TV shows. His third album, Gossip in the Grain, catapulted him into the top ten of the Billboard 200, when it debuted at #3. Lamontagne was also featured on the UK television show, "Live From Abbey Road," where he played a five song set for the series.
Lamontagne's most recent release is 2010's, God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise. For the first time, the singer-songwriter garnered three nominations at the February, 2011 Grammy Awards ceremony, where he went on to win the award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Ray Lamontagne tour dates are currently scheduled nationally; he will be appearing at over twenty dates this summer and spring. Don't miss out on the man who once again made Folk music cool.
