Now in its eighth season, the Ottawa Bach Choir performs an extensive subscription concert series in Ottawa and travels extensively in Canada and abroad.
In June 2009, it embarked on its third European tour, where it was invited to perform in London at St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Foundling Museum; in Paris at Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Church of the Madeleine and the American Church, in addition to returning for the third time to Bach’s church, the Thomaskirche, in Leipzig.
In 2008, the choir was invited to perform at Podium 2008, the biannual conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors (ACCC), in Sackville, New Brunswick. The choir's second European tour in 2007 consisted of performances for three days in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, as well as in Bayreuth, Vienna and Salzburg. The choir has also performed in Mexico City, Montreal, Toronto and Nova Scotia, including performances in the Montreal Bach Festival, at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto and in the concert series Musique Saint-Bernard in Nova Scotia. In May 2005, the choir traveled on its first European tour, performing in Leipzig, Stuttgart and Prague.
In addition to its successful performances of all of Bach's major works, the choir has also performed several works from the Baroque period by Buxtehude, Charpentier, Handel, Monteverdi, Purcell, Schütz, Telemann and others, as well as motets of the Renaissance, Romantic and Contemporary periods, and French choral music.
The choir has been broadcast on CBC Radio 1 and Radio 2, as well as on Radio Canada, and recorded three compact discs. The choir's fourth CD, Jesu, meine Freude, with soloists Agnes Zsigovics, Daniel Taylor, Benjamin Butterfield and Daniel Lichti, was released in November 2008.
