One Republic broke out big with their hit 2007 single "Apologize" which peaked at #2 on the Hot 100. While they have taken the pop world by storm, their sound provides a diverse array of all musical genres. Front-man, Ryan Tedder states that he's "written and produced songs from the poppiest of pop to rock to heavy hip-hop to electro". While they may fall somewhere in between, one thing is clear, they are able to craft hit singles. One Republic tour dates are currently scheduled throughout the US this Summer, 2011.
The band is fronted by Ryan Tedder who has quickly become one of music's most prolific songwriters and producers. On his own, he has been nominated for eight Grammy awards for his studio work for Beyonce, Leona Lewis, and Paul Oakenfold. The Colorado native got his big break after being noticed by acclaimed producer Timbaland who took Tedder under his wing to develop him as an artist, producer, and songwriter. Tedder returned to his high school band, One Republic, in 2004 and they quickly became a MySpace sensation where they exclusively released their music. Timbaland's label, Mosley Music Group, eventually signed the group to a deal and featured them on his album, "Shock Value".
One Republic released their debut, "Dreaming Out Loud", in 2007 and it featured the hit single "Apologize" which was prominently featured on Timbland's "Shock Value." Both versions of the single, were huge hits on almost all radio formats. The single was certified four times platinum and broke a record for becoming the biggest radio airplay hit in the history of Billboard. This record, however, was soon beaten by Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love", which ironically was co-written by Tedder. The album also yielded the singles "Stop and Stare" and "Say (All I Need)". In support of the album, One Republic's concert schedule included an opening spot on Maroon 5's national tour.
The band quickly returned to the studio in 2008 to record their sophomore album, "Waking Up". Released in 2009, the album featured the lead single "All the Right Moves". Ryan Tedder continued to record and produce music for other artists during this period including Beyonce's "Halo" and Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone". In support of their sophomore album, the band teamed up with Pink on her "Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour" and they opened for Bon Jovi at the O2 Arena in London during Summer, 2010.
One Republic is currently on tour, and concert dates are periodically scheduled around their busy recording sessions. They are currently working on their untitled third release and have been testing out new songs at their various tour dates. One Republic may be one of the most versatile acts out there, their synthesis of hip-hop beats, pop vocals, and rock melodies has made them an international sensation, not to mention they can pretty much tour with anyone and be a crowd pleaser.
