Missy Elliott

Disney's Touchstone Pictures has entered into a deal with Missy Elliott to score its upcoming film, "Stick It," which releases in theatres nationwide in April 2006. Mike Simpson of Dust Brothers fame (producer of Beck and The Beastie Boys) will collaborate on the score. Elliott shot the video for the film's theme song, "We Run This," on January 3 & 4 in Los Angeles with long-time collaborator Dave Meyers. Olympic gold-medalist Dominique Dawes makes a cameo as Missy's "gymnastics coach" in the video. "Having Missy involved in scoring and as the single and video is an unprecedented creative event which will ensure our film the highest visibility to its core audience" says Mitchell Leib, President of Music and Soundtracks for Walt Disney Pictures & Television and Buena Vista Music Group.

"We Run This" is also the third single off of Elliott's 4x GRAMMY-nominated album, The Cookbook. Elliot received 2 additional GRAMMY nominations for her work with Ciara and Fantasia. The 48th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It was also announced recently that Elliott has been nominated for a Brit Award for "Best Female International Solo Act." The Brits will take place in London on February 15th.

The Cookbook, Elliott's 6th album, debuted at ..2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart upon its release last July and finished out 2005 strong, making it onto a number of year-end lists including:

Rolling Stone's Top 50 Albums of 2005 - "she's as singular a rhymer as she is a stylish hitmaker." Spin's 20 Best Singles of 2005 - touting "Lose Control" as "the year's most riotous beat, if not the best song."
